Scott Dwyer earned his doctorate from Rensselaer in 1990 as a Resident Study Award winner from IBM Microelectronics. He spent twelve additional years at IBM as a Materials and Failure Analysis engineer, and came to Rensselaer in 2002 as Laboratory Supervisor and Professor, teaching Introductory Physics. He has been instrumental in the pedagogical evolution of introductory physics, participating in the Mobile Studio project and creating a new laboratory format for Physics II, the second semester course. He received the School of Science Outstanding Teaching Award in 2007.
